Accessibility at the Littleton Museum

All are welcome at the Littleton Museum! The Littleton Museum seeks to create a welcoming and safe environment for visitors. The museum and its staff aim to support access to programs, exhibits, and spaces for all ages and abilities.

The museum offers a variety of accessibility resources and services. Visitors with questions or feedback about accessibility at the Littleton Museum or its website can contact staff at musjh@littletongov.org.

Parking

Accessible parking spaces are available in the main parking lot on the north side of the building, towards the southeast side of the lot.

 

Restrooms

Restrooms are located throughout the Museum. A Family Restroom is located across from the Research Center, near the Admin Wing. Adult wipes are available for free upon request.

 

Wheelchairs and strollers

Wheelchairs and strollers may be checked out at no charge from the Reception Desk on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Seating

Benches are spread throughout the museum and farm sites. 

 

Closed captioning

Visitor Orientation Room videos have automated closed captioning. 

 

Sensory friendly experiences

The Littleton Museum currently does not have scheduled sensory friendly experiences. As the museum continues to expand accessibility offerings, visitors are encouraged to send suggestions to: musjh@littletongov.org.

 

Nursing areas

Several spaces are available for nursing mothers; please visit the Reception Desk for more information. Most restrooms throughout the Museum have baby changing stations.

 

Emergencies

An AED device is located by the front doors, across from the Reception Desk.

A first aid kit is available from staff at the Reception Desk. Staff may not administer first aid; in the event of a severe injury, please call 911 and notify museum staff.

In the event of an emergency, please follow directions from museum staff.

 

Visitors with limited mobility

The main barrier-free entrance to the Museum is on the north side off the main parking lot. The doors are fully accessible with push-button entry.

Service animals are allowed throughout the Museum. Service animals are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Pets and emotional support animals are not considered service animals and are not allowed. 

Pathways on the historic farms are made of gravel and can be muddy or icy depending on the weather. Visitors are strongly encouraged to call ahead to find out about the pathways before their visit, 303-795-3950

Visitors who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

American Sign Language Interpreters are available at no charge for Museum live programs, events, and lectures. Please call us at 303-795-3950 or email us at musjh@littletongov.org for questions and reservations. Please allow at least two weeks notice for any requests.

 

Visitors with vision loss

Enchroma color-blind glasses for guests may be checked out at no charge from the Reception Desk on a first-come, first-served basis. An ID is required as a deposit. Indoor or outdoor glasses for generic color-blindness are available for both children and adults. Please allow 15-30 minutes for full effect. 

 

Visitors who are neurodiverse

Sensory needs backpacks for guests may be checked out at no charge from the Reception Desk on a first-come, first-served basis. An ID is required as a deposit. Backpacks are available for both children and adults, and include sunglasses, fidget toys, communication cards, weighted lap pads, and noise-reducing headphones.

Afternoon visits are often much quieter at the museum. Please be aware that some areas of the farms, like the Blacksmith Shop and animal pens, may be loud or have offensive smells.
